Something besides the U.S. national nightmare

You will have to sort this one out yourself, because I haven't been watching the developments. It seems there is a touchy situation wherein Greece does not want a former Yugoslav republic to call itself Macedonia. And Washington just recognized the country's new self-claimed name. WTF? Is there nothing better to fight about?

The American decision sent shock waves across Greece, where state and private television networks broke into scheduled programming to report the news.

The opposition socialists lambasted the conservative government for its "absence of strategy" and sharply criticized the Americans.

"Alas," said a socialist parliamentarian, Fillipos Petsalnikos. "This was another sly, behind-the-back American blow."
