More tough talk threatening Venezuela

A senior U.S. official on Tuesday took a dim view of the possibility that Venezuela would buy Russian MiG-29 fighter jets to replace its U.S.-made F-16 jets.

"We shoot down MiGs,'' said the Bush administration official, who spoke on condition he not be identified.

Bring 'em on.

"It should be an issue of concern to the Venezuelan people,'' said the official, speaking at a briefing for reporters accompanying President Bush on his first official visit to Canada. "Millions of dollars are going to be spent on Russian weapons for ill-defined purposes.''
